Every year I follow the Academy Awards. This year I've seen 4 of the nominees:

Slumdog Millionaire
Wall-E
Man on Wire
Frozen River

I'm hoping Slumdog wins Best Picture and Man on Wire wins Best Documentary.

Wall-E and Frozen River are both nominated for Best Original Screenplay (which basically means the best story). I'd be happy if Wall-E won, but if was Frozen River, that would be a triumph for independent cinema. So either one winning will make me happy.

I watched Idiocracy on DVD last night and really enjoyed it. I think some of the issues raised are actually close to the truth. Tomorrow night I'm gonna go see Gran Torino.

Watched Vinyan last night. Not the ending I was expecting, though I wasn't expecting a happy one anyway. My boyfriend made the comment that all the little boys (without the painted faces) look the same. Strange how white people struggle to tell the difference between Asian faces.

Harry Potter & the half-blood prince is not as action-packed & scary as the previous ones, tho it's still worth the watch...

i just saw 'inglourious basterds'. i'm impressed a monolingual director was able to direct a movie in multiple languages. i read somewhere that the film's dialogue is 42% english, 28% german, 22% french, and 1% italian.
